“The juxtaposition of 16th century classical music and 21st century street dance is further emphasised by its setting in the grungy, cathedral-like rave club. However what occurs is a densely-textured piece that provides an effective theatrical and physical response to the music.” Londondance.com

Avant Garde Dance and Early Opera Company combine the music of Monteverdi with the most exciting new voices in dance. Curated by Tony Adigun the evening included responses to Montiverdi’s work by Botis Seva, and Robia Milliner Brown/Ajani Johnson (A&R Dance) The centrepiece is arguably Monteverdi’s most radical composition, a heartstopping 20 minutes of aggression, love and redemption – the perfect backdrop for choreographer Tony Adigun’s mix of site-specific abstract dance.

Presented as part of East London Dance Dance Currents 2013 & Spitalfield Music Festival at Village Underground, Shoreditch
